About Us

In 1976, Bill Houlihan, an accountant for a painting contractor called the J.J. Wilmot Painting Co., came up with the idea of establishing a retail paint store.

Bill noticed a void in the local market and thought that painters, homeowners, and local facilities needed a place to purchase their paint supplies. As the retail shop grew and the painting business slowly dissolved, Bill purchased the company from his partner, Dick Wilmot.

Keeping the Wilmot name, as it was so strongly associated with painting in the greater Middleboro area, Bill built the business with care and premium products for his customers. In the ensuing years, Bill introduced wallcoverings, window treatments and flooring to the mix, again building these aspects of the company with high-quality products and installers.

1992 saw Bills’ son Scott enter the business. Together, over the next twenty years, they continued to cultivate and nurture the business, developing a reputation in the area for having the highest quality of products and service. With Bill’s untimely death in 2011, Scott was charged with leading the company and continuing the legacy that Bill had worked so hard to build.
