Small Prints, Big Impact |With Wallpaper, Furnishings and Flooring

(plus a creative way to use wallpaper in small doses)

One thing we love here at Wilmot’s is watching trends ebb and flow as the years pass. A trend we’re seeing again in 2020 is the use of small prints. While it’s already largely popular in Modern Farmhouse style, it’s popping up in many other spheres of interior design too. For example, you’ll see a whole lot of small cheetah print in modern design, thin ticking stripes in coastal interiors, and tiny geometric prints in the retro home. And they’re not limited to simply accents anymore. They’re taking over our floors, walls, and even ceilings. Let’s expand our design horizons with small prints.

Wallpaper

Structured or strewn about, subtle or showy, small prints do it all. They add just the right amount of something-something to a room that needs that final touch. Create a cool backdrop for traditional, modern, boho, and anything-in-between wall decor.

Small Print Fabrics

Texture is big these days. A cool way to add the appearance of texture in your home is to use fabric with a small repeating pattern. Especially in a coordinating color, this kind of print can give furniture, pillows or even curtains just a subtle textural feel. And upon closer inspection, you’ll find the real beauty of a tiny pattern elevates the intentionality of the room.

Patterned Flooring

Natural wood and stone floors are timeless and always beautiful. But there is something about a pretty patterned floor that gives a home its unique look. Make a discrete impression in a powder room, a striking first impression in a mud room, or a sweet surprise throughout a kitchen with small printed flooring.
